Terms of Service

The agreement between you and IMR Solutions FZCO for the use of About.Family.

Last updated: 10 August 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and IMR Solutions FZCO, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates ("we", "us", "our"), covering the About.Family mobile apps, the website at https://about.family and the services we provide through them (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service.

How we handle your personal information is described separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

1. Who may use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and legally able to enter into a contract. If you set up the Service for a family, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and that you will handle the information of the other people you add (including children, co-parents and helpers) responsibly and lawfully. By registering and installing the app you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy, and you accept that what you record is shared with the members of your family group according to the role each of them has.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate registration details and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your device, sign-in codes and session secure. You are responsible for what happens through your account.
  • Tell us promptly at service@about.family if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
  • Do not share your account with people outside your household, invite them properly instead, so that access rights apply.

3. Families, invitations and shared access

The Service works by sharing information between the people in your family group. When you invite someone, they gain access to the shared content their role allows, and content you create may become visible to them. When you publish a wishlist, anyone with the link can open it without signing in.

You are responsible for who you invite and for the information you record about other people. Where the law requires the consent of another adult (for example before sharing their location) it is up to you to obtain it. Roles and access rights are a convenience feature, not a security guarantee against people you have deliberately invited.

4. Your licence to use the Service, and our rights

As long as you keep to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the About.Family apps on devices you own or control, and to use the website, for your own family's private, non-commercial purposes. Any subscription you buy sets the scope of the paid features within that licence.

The Service itself (the software, design, text, graphics, logos and the About.Family name) belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. Nothing in these terms transfers those rights to you, and all rights we have not expressly granted are reserved.

If you send us feedback, ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without owing you payment or credit. You are never obliged to send us feedback.

5. Your content

Everything you create in the Service (events, expenses, lists, photos, notes) remains yours. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, back up and display that content, solely so that we can operate the Service for you and your family. This licence exists only to run the Service and ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain briefly in backups. We do not use your content for advertising and we do not use it to train our own AI models.

You confirm that you have the right to upload the content you add and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service to break the law, to harass, threaten, stalk or monitor someone without their knowledge and consent, or to harm a child;
  • upload malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, other accounts or other families' data;
  • probe, scan, overload or disrupt the Service, or circumvent access controls, rate limits or usage restrictions;
  • copy, decompile, reverse engineer or resell the Service, or extract data from it in bulk, except where the law expressly permits it;
  • use the Service to send spam, or to build a competing product from our data;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your connection with a family.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these rules or that puts other users at risk.

7. Subscriptions, trials and payment

  • Some features require a paid subscription. Prices, trial length and what is included are shown in the app before you buy.
  • Purchases made in the app are processed by Apple or Google under their own terms. We do not receive your card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the current period ends, in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
  • A free trial converts into a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. If you buy a subscription while a trial is running, the remaining free period is forfeited.
  • Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, according to its policy. Where consumer law in your country gives you a right of withdrawal, that right applies in addition.
  • We may change prices for future billing periods. We will give you reasonable notice, and you can cancel before the change takes effect.

8. The AI assistant

The assistant interprets what you say and can create, change or delete entries on your behalf. Like all AI systems it can misunderstand you and can produce information that is wrong. Check anything that matters before relying on it. The assistant is a helper for finding things and creating entries in the app. It is not a general-purpose assistant, and it is not the newest or most capable model available.

The assistant does not provide legal, medical, financial or tax advice. Do not use it for emergencies. You remain responsible for the decisions you take and for reviewing the entries it creates.

9. Location features

Location sharing is optional and off until someone in your family turns it on. It depends on your device, your operating system settings, battery state and network coverage, so positions may be delayed, imprecise or missing.

The family map is a convenience feature, not a safety, security or emergency service. Do not rely on it to locate a person in an emergency, contact the emergency services. Only share the location of another adult with their knowledge and consent, and only enable location for a child in line with your responsibilities as a parent or guardian.

10. Third-party services

The Service uses third-party components (app stores, push notification providers, speech recognition built into your device, map and address search providers, AI model providers) and may link to sites we do not control. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their part of the experience, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.

11. Availability and changes to the Service

We work to keep the Service available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, suspend or withdraw features, and we may run maintenance. If we discontinue a significant feature or the Service as a whole, we will give reasonable notice and, where you have paid for a period you can no longer use, a proportionate refund. Features marked as beta or preview are provided as they are and may change or disappear. Neither of us is liable for failing to perform because of events outside our reasonable control, such as network or infrastructure failures, acts of government, or a third-party provider withdrawing its service.

12. Ending this agreement

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if your use puts others or our systems at risk, or if we are required to by law (with notice where it is reasonable to give it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination) content licence limits, disclaimers, liability, governing law, continue to apply.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that synchronisation will always be timely, or that content will never be lost. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or fifty US dollars.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for rights consumers have under mandatory local law.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, from content you upload, or from your recording or sharing of another person's information without the consent required by law.

16. App Store and Google Play terms

  • This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple or Google, and we alone are responsible for the app and its content.
  • Apple and Google have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app.
  • If the iOS app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which will refund the purchase price; to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance and consumer protection claims, and third-party intellectual property claims.
  • You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose law gives you the protection of your local courts, nothing here deprives you of those rights. Before starting formal proceedings, please write to service@about.family so we can try to resolve the matter.

18. General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If a provision is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it to an affiliate or successor. We may update these terms (for legal reasons or when the Service changes) and will give notice in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you do not accept the new version, you may cancel your subscription and stop using the Service before that date, and we will refund the unused part of any period you have already paid for; continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new version.
